City Aligns Face Covering Requirements with LA County Health Order for Fully Vaccinated People: Press Release
City Aligns Face Covering Requirements with LA County Health Order for Fully Vaccinated People
Manhattan Beach, CA (May 5, 2021) – Following the County Department of Public Health’s revision to the Health Officer Order, the City has issued an Emergency Order aligning face covering requirements with the County’s Order for fully vaccinated people.
On April 27, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) issued revised Interim Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People, stating that, except in crowded settings and venues, fully vaccinated people may gather or conduct activities outdoors without wearing a mask when:
- Alone;
- With members of their household;
- With a small group of fully vaccinated people; and
- With a small group of people who are not fully vaccinated and not at a high risk for severe illness or death from COVID-19.
Subsequently, the County revised its Health Order to align with the CDC’s recommendations.
The new recommendations support the continued need for everyone, including those fully vaccinated, to wear masks while in crowds, at large events and gatherings, and in indoor settings where unvaccinated people may be present. Because COVID-19 can still easily spread, unvaccinated people, who remain at highest risk of becoming infected, need to continue wearing masks in all settings where they are around people not in their household. For more specific guidance and information on safe mask wearing, please visit the guidance on the County’s website.
The County Department of Public Health continues to monitor safety protocols to keep everyone safe and will make adjustments as needed. Should the County further revise its Health Order, please visit the County Department of Public Health website, sign up for the City’s eNotifications and Nixle public safety alerts, and follow the City on Facebook, Twitter, Nextdoor, and Instagram.
