SIDESHOW INCIDENT INVOLVING TURLOCK FIRE ENGINE
On Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at approximately 11:05 pm, Turlock firefighters were on duty in the area of West Monte Vista Avenue and North Berkeley Avenue. There was heavy traffic as a result of a sideshow incident that was occurring in the area, which caused the fire engine to be temporarily blocked.
Bystanders, who are believed to be associated with this sideshow incident, climbed onto the fire engine and began pulling off a section of a fire hose. In an effort to vacate the area, firefighters activated their overhead emergency lights and sounded their horn.
The fire engine was able to escape the crowd and found a safe location to pull over and quickly secure the loose fire hose. There were no injuries reported, theft or damage as a result and the fire engine was out of service for less than one minute.
Police were on scene of this incident shortly after it occurred and the crowd was already dispersing.
The Turlock Police Department has a plan in place and have dedicated additional resources to combat these types of sideshow activities in our area.
This case is actively being investigated for any potential crimes that may have occurred. As this is an active investigation, there will be no additional information released at this time.
