Crime Blotter for the Week of May 2-8, 2021

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of May 02, 2021– May 08, 2021.        
 
May 02, 2021

  • Petty Theft (Shoplifting):
An informant reported a theft at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target). The informant stated on 05-02-21, 6:22 pm, he observed a male adult place a Segway scooter and a Lego set in his shopping cart and exit the store, making no attempt to pay for the items. Deputies responded to the location and contacted the suspect in the parking lot. After investigating the incident, the suspect was arrested by Deputies without incident. Surveillance video captured the incident. The estimated loss was $350.
  • Grand Theft (Truck Tailgate):
A victim reported their truck tailgate stolen near the 70 Block of Cedarwood Avenue. The theft occurred between 04-20-21, 12:00 pm, and 05-02-21, 12:20 pm. Suspects stole the tailgate from the victim’s Ford F350 truck. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $350.
 
May 03, 2021
  • Grand Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 1200 Block of Elmhurst Avenue. The theft occurred between 04-26-21, 12:00 am, and 05-01-21, 11:59 pm. Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2003 Honda Odyssey. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $1,400.

May 05, 2021
  • Attempt Grand Theft Auto:
A victim reported an attempt vehicle theft near the 2000 Block of Baylor Street. The victim stated on 05-05-21 between 1:00 am and 6:30 am, unknown persons broke the door lock to the victim’s 2001 Chevy Silverado and damaged the ignition to the vehicle. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video.
  • Grand Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 1100 Block of Galen Street. The theft occurred on 05-05-21 at approximately 2:17 am. Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2004 Honda Accord. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $1,500.
  • Attempt Grand Theft Auto:
A victim reported an attempt vehicle theft near the 2500 Block of Fernley Drive. The victim stated between 05-04-21, 10:00 pm and 05-05-21, 6:00 am, unknown persons broke the door lock to the victim’s 2001 Chevy Silverado and damaged the ignition to the vehicle. The suspects stole several tools from inside the victim’s vehicle. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video.

May 06, 2021
  • Robbery (Strong-arm):
A victim reported she was robbed near the 2500 Block of Sunnydale Drive by a family member. The victim stated on 05-06-21 at approximately 12:00 pm, she was arguing with her adult daughter when her daughter hit her in the face and stole her phone. The suspect was located at a local park and was arrested by Deputies without incident.
  • Grand Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 2000 Block of Broadland Avenue. The theft occurred between 05-05-21, 8:00 pm, and 05-06-21, 3:30 am. Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2004 Honda Accord. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $1,400.
  • Burglary from a Vehicle (stolen item left in plain view):
A victim reported a vehicle burglary near the 2000 Block of Huntington Drive. The victim stated between 05-03-21, 5:30 pm and 05-06-21, 9:00 am, unknown persons smashed the front passenger window to the vehicle and stole a Magnaflow muffler from the backseat. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $1,500.

May 08, 2021
  • Petty Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported their vehicle catalytic converter was stolen near the 1300 Block of Huntington Drive. The theft occurred on 05-04-21 between 6:00 am, and 7:00 am. Suspects stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s 2007 Honda Accord. Deputies did not locate any surveillance video. The estimated loss was $400.
  • Attempt Grand Theft (Catalytic Converter):
A victim reported an attempt catalytic converter theft near the 1100 Block of Highland Avenue. The victim stated on 05-08-21 at 12:30 pm, an unknown person was seen under her 1997 Honda CR-V by her neighbor and was scared away. The neighbor was able to get a license plate and photos of the suspect’s Chrysler minivan. The suspect damaged the victim’s catalytic converter.
  • Aggravated Assault (Spousal)
A victim reported a domestic violence incident near the 1600 block of Fairdale Avenue. The victim reported being assaulted by her long-term boyfriend. The suspect was arrested at the location without incident.
 
CRIME PREVENTION TIPS

How to help prevent a Carjacking:
  • Keep doors locked and windows shut.
  • Don't stop to assist a disabled motorist. Instead, contact a service station or police.
  • When stopped at a light, leave enough room between you and the car in front of you in case you have to drive away.
  • Be suspicious of anyone approaching the car with fliers, asking for change or directions. Be ready to leave carefully.
  • If you think you are being followed, drive to an area with lots of lights and people. If possible, drive to the nearest law enforcement office.
