DUI Stop Yields Drugs and Illegal Weapons
On 5/6/21, at approximately 9:00 am, Morgan Hill Police conducted a traffic stop on a suspected DUI driver near the intersection of Monterey/ Jarvis. During the investigation, the officer placed the driver into custody for suspected driving while under the influence of alcohol/ drugs. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a large sum of cash. Officers determined the driver was possibly engaged in illegal activity and learned the driver was coming from a nearby storage facility. Officers later authored a search warrant for the storage facility based on the information they developed during the vehicle stop. A judge signed the search warrant and Officers made entry into the suspect’s storage unit.
Once inside the storage unit, MHPD Officers located approximately 44 lbs of marijuana, a large amount of ammunition and 7 illegal firearms. Officers seized the contra-band and illegal weapons and later booked the evidence at MHPD. Alaskan 45 year-old resident, William Regallo, was later transported and booked into the Santa Clara Main Jail on DUI, possession of illegal drugs for sales, felon in possession of a firearm, and multiple illegal weapons violations.
