On Saturday, May 15, 2021, deputies with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Depriest Road and Bostic Sunshine Highway reference to a call for service regarding a male attempting to break into houses and vehicles. Deputy Cassondra McClung arrived on scene and found the suspect at a residence on Depriest Road. Deputy McClung then attempted to detain the suspect, Manuel Galvan Aleman, age 18, of Forest City. As Deputy McClung attempted to detain Aleman, he started running from Deputy McClung and then tried to take her patrol vehicle. Deputy McClung was able to deter Aleman from taking her patrol vehicle. Aleman then contiued running on foot and ran across the road and was attempting to break into another residence when more deputies arrived on the scene. After a brief struggle with Aleman, deputies were able to arrest Aleman and take him into custody.

Aleman was charged with two counts of Resisting a Public Officer, one count of Assault and Battery, two counts of Misdemeanor Attempting Breaking and Entering, one count of Injury to Real Property, one count of Felony Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle, one count of Felony Attempted Larceny and one count of Assault on Government Official. Aleman was booked into the Rutherford County Detention Center where he received a $35,000 secured bond. Aleman had a first appearance in the Rutherford County District Court on May 17, 2021.
