Graffiti Removed From Interstate Overpass Bridge Today By Order Of SHERIFF VICTOR HILL
Just drive northbound on interstate 75/85 and on many of the overpass bridges and signs you will see a lot of gang graffiti. It has become so common that it seems to be a natural part of the interstate landscape with no sense of urgency to remove it. Studies have shown under the broken windows theory that when gang graffiti is allowed to go unaddressed, it sends a bad message that the leaders are apathetic and that the gangs are really in charge instead. The bottom line is wherever there is graffiti, there is high crime and disorder.
NOT IN CLAYTON COUNTY!
Thursday of last week graffiti was observed on an overpass bridge of Old Dixie Hwy for the first time in Clayton County. Sheriff Victor Hill ordered it removed and inmates under the supervision of deputies removed it today. (before and after pictures attached)
Deputies will be on patrol to catch the “taggers” to put them in “The Hill-ton” so that they can use their skills to help paint the Sheriff’s Office emblems instead. “Gangs will never mark any territory in Clayton County, but we will mark ours” stated Sheriff Hill.
If you see any trash or graffiti anywhere in Clayton County, take pictures and email the location to Lt. Johnson who is the commander of the Sheriff’s S.K.I.P. (Sheriff’s Kleen Initiative Program) unit at [email protected] for next day service.
