Aggressive Wildlife Alert – Coyote Confrontation – Werimus Brook Rd Area of S.R. – Be Aware

Aggressive Wildlife Alert-

On Monday 05/17/21, we received a report of a dog being confronted and chased by an aggressive coyote.  This large dog, approximately 90 lbs, was chased by at least one coyote back towards its home.  The incident was witnessed by a resident who inspected their dog immediately and found no signs of an attack.  Upon closer inspection it revealed that the dog was bitten by the coyote and now requires treatment for the wounds. TYCO Animal Control and the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife have been made aware of this situation and are working with us to resolve it. No pets or small children should be left outside unattended. As per Fish and Wildlife, walkers, dog walkers and joggers should consider carrying a compressed air horn and or a walking stick in the event they experience a similar incident. Be aware, this is the time of year we see more coyotes and bears due to the seasonal changes.  Any confrontations with aggressive wildlife should be reported to the police desk immediately by calling (201)-327-5300 or 911.
