Crime Alert Bulletin for the week of May 10-16, 2021.

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Monday, 05-10-21 at 6:43 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Serra Vista Avenue on a report of a subject in a parked vehicle who was throwing trash onto the street. Officer Todaro and Officer Smith contacted the subject in the car and said the subject was smoking marijuana. The vehicle was still running when officers contacted the subject, and the officers said the subject displayed common signs of someone who was under the influence of marijuana. The subject had a marijuana cigarette in plain view of the officers. Because the subject was 19-years old and prohibited from possessing recreational marijuana, the officers searched his car. The officers found a scale, bags containing large quantities of marijuana nuggets, empty zip lock bags, and empty mason jars. After finding these, the officers arrested the 19-year old Daly City resident for possession of marijuana for sale, transportation of marijuana for sale, and possession of marijuana greater than 28.5 grams.

On Tuesday, 05-11-21 at 6:35 a.m., Officer Andrade and Officer Digiacomo were dispatched to the 7-Eleven store on Hillside Boulevard on a report of a subject who was trespassing in the store. The clerk said the subject purchased items with her EBT card and was upset that the card did not work. After the fourth try, the transaction was accepted. The clerk said the subject left some of her merchandise and walked to her car. When she returned, the subject asked the clerk for five cigars. The clerk told the subject that she would have to pay for the cigars, or she would have to leave the store.  The clerk said the subject walked behind the registers and immediately started hitting him with closed fists to his face. The clerk said he did not fight back and showed the officers the injuries to his face. The officers subsequently arrested the female, a 28-year old San Francisco resident, for attempted robbery, battery, and trespassing.

On Thursday, 05-13-21 at 1:53 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Cow Palace parking lot on a report of a subject who had a firearm in his backpack. The subject was participating in a training course and had shown the firearm to a fellow classmate. The officers found the subject and his loaded .9mm semi-automatic handgun in the subject’s backpack. The subject, a 40-year old San Francisco resident, was arrested for being in possession of a loaded firearm.

On Saturday, 05-15-21 at 8:14 p.m., subsequent to a traffic stop by Officer Shoopman at Valley Street and County Street, a 20-year old San Francisco resident was arrested for possession of a concealed firearm on his person, possession of a concealed firearm inside of a vehicle, possession of a firearm as an occupant of a vehicle, being in unlawful possession of a firearm, and being in possession of an unregistered firearm with ammunition.

On Saturday, 05-15-21 at 9:15 p.m., a 46-year old Antioch resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after he hit a crosswalk pole in the area of Mission Street and San Pedro Road.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
