Motorcycle Crash
Motorcycle Crash 
Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that on 05/20/2021 at 1815 hours his office was called to investigate a personal injury crash involving a single motorcycle. The crash occurred on Sunset Blvd near US-12 in Porter Township, Cass County, Michigan.
The driver of the motorcycle (Todd Vankirk 53 year old Edwardsburg, MI resident) was headed north bound on Sunset Blvd when an animal ran out in front of him. He swerved to miss the animal crossing the median and going off the road to the west into the guard rail. Vankirk was transported for his injuries to the Elkhart General Hospital.
Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in this crash and a helmet was not worn.
Assisting agencies on scene were SEPSA Ambulance Service, Porter Township Fire Department and Michigan State Police.
