Northfield Twp Police handled 434 calls for service this month
 
 
04/01/2021      *Misdemeanor Offense- Driving on a Suspended License – Citation Issued
Diamond Circle & Opal Lane – An Officer on patrol stopped a vehicle for expired plates and discovered the driver had a suspended license.  The vehicle was turned over to the owner and the driver issued a Misdemeanor Appearance ticket.
 
04/02/2021      *Larceny from Automobile
9100 Block of Lincoln – A victim reported that sometime between March 30 & March 31 an unknown suspect removed his wallet from his unlocked vehicle. In addition, the suspect(s) further used the vicitms’ credit cards without  authorization.  At the time of the report there were no witnesses or suspects developed.

04/02/2021      *Civil Mediation
Lake Shore & Leonard Dr-   Northfield Twp Police were called to assist with a homeowner Association incident – the investigation revealed that the possible suspect has moved from the area and the incident was not criminal in nature.
 
04/02/2021      *Arrest – Operating While Intoxicated
E. North Territorial & Sutton –During a traffic stop of a speeding vehicle, an Officer observed the driver displaying signs and evidence of intoxication. The driver was arrested and the vehicle impounded.  Due to Covid, the drivers blood was drawn to determine the alcohol content  and the case is pending the lab results.
 
04/03/2021      *Dog Bite
Jade Lane – A complainant reported that a minor child was bitten by a neighbor’s dog. The investigation revealed the dog was on a leash and had proper shots.  The child was taken for medical treatment and the dog quarantined. 
 
 04/05/2021      *Harassment
100 Block of Barker – Officers investigated a possible harassment complaint among known parties.  The investigation was mediated with no criminal charges being pursued at the time of the report. 
 
04/06/2021      *Malicious Destruction of Property
9000 Block of Kearney – A complainant reported that during the evening a suspect(s) sprayed his deck with a paint substance.  Further the complainant reported that  over the course of several months odd things had been happening on his property.  No suspects had been identified during the initial investigation.
 
04/08/2021      *Arrest – Operating while Intoxicated
W Eight Mile Rd & Rushton – An Officer on patrol observed a speeding, reckless driver disregard a stop sign.  After attempting to evade the traffic stop, and disregarding the Officers’ commands;  the driver exited his vehicle and proceeded to enter a residence.  The Officer was able to take the suspected drunk driver, a 39 year old male, into custody.  Evidence was collected and a warrant was issued for a blood draw to determine the extent of intoxication.  The subject was lodged in the Washtenaw County Jail and the case is open pending the lab results.
 
04/12/2021      *Operating a vehicle while in the Presence of Drugs
Main St  & Barker Rd – An Officer on patrol observed a subject under a downed motorcycle.  After removing the subject from beneath the motorcycle and assisting the male driver to stand the bike up – Officers recognized signs of unknown impairment.  The unstable, incoherent subject was transported to U of M for medical evaluation and blood draw to determine intoxication.  The case is open pending lab results.
 
04/12/2021      *Fraud
8700 Block of Main St – After selling a trailer to an individual, the charges were disputed due to an identity theft.  The investigation reveals that an unknown suspect used a stolen identity and different stolen credit card to procure the trailer.  The case remains under investigation.
  
04/12/2021      *Larceny (Theft) Embezzlement
300 Block of  Six Mile Rd -  A business manager reported that a book of non-activated lottery tickets had been stolen.  The complainant further advised that someone attempted to turn in the winning tickets from the packet, but was unsuccessful.  A suspect has been identified and the case remains under investigation.
 
04/15/2021      *Larceny
300 Block of North Territorial – A complainant reported that after being distracted by two customers, the customers stole lottery tickets and drinks.  The two suspects, a male and a female, then fled the scene in a white vehicle.  The investigation revealed the identity of the suspects who have ties to several other larcenies using the same distraction scheme.  The case remains under investigation.
 
04/16/2021      Driving on Suspended License
U.S 23 & Barker – An Officer on patrol observed a speeding vehicle.  Upon stop of the vehicle, the Officer discovered the drivers’ license was suspended and the driver had an outstanding warrant.  The driver was advised about the warrant and given an appearance ticket for driving on a suspended license.  The vehicle was impounded.
 
04/16/2021      Malicious Destruction of Property
700 Block of Six Mile Rd – A homeowner reported that on 04/15/2021 at approximately 1:30 pm, a maroon vehicle struck her mailbox causing damage.  The vehicle did not stop.  A witness believed the action was purposeful.  If anyone has any information regarding this incident they are asked to contact the Northfield Twp Police.
 
04/16/2021      *Impounded Vehicle
Harbor Cove & Main St – An Officer on patrol stopped a vehicle without a license plate. The traffic stop confirmed the vehicle was not registered and the driver did not have insurance for the vehicle.  The vehicle was impounded and the driver released at the scene.
 
04/17/2021      *Trespass Notices Issued
100 Block of Garden – An Officer responded to the Northfield Twp Police parking lot where the Officer mediated a harassment complainant.  All parties were known to each other, and five trespass notices were issued.
 
04/18/2021      *Vehicle Impounded
Main St & Seven Mile Rd – An Officer on patrol observed a vehicle without a license plate.  During the traffic stop it was determined the vehicle was not registered and did not have insurance.  The vehicle was impounded.
 
04/28/2021      Crash Investigation
Sutton & Pontiac Trail – Officers responded to investigate a crash scene – narcotics were observed in one of the vehicles and after transporting the driver to U of M, blood was drawn and sent to the lab.  The case remains open pending the lab results.
 
04/29/2021      Fraud
300 block of Grove – A complainant reported that she received a message on her computer directing her to call “Microsoft” and providing a number. Upon contacting the messenger, they took over her computer and then instructed the complainant to purchase an Apple gift card and provide them with the redemption number.  The investigating Officer assisted the victim in contacting “Apple “ where it was determined the gift card had not yet been used.  Apple put a stop on the card and advised the victim she was entitled to a refund.  Further the Officer recommended the victim to contact her bank and switch her account. 
 
***Be cautious when receiving pop up messages regarding your computer and again NEVER pay an entity with Gift Cards ---If an agency or company will only accept gift card numbers they are not a legitimate business.
 
 ***With warm weather  please watch out for bicyclists &
        pedestrian traffic ---
