Salvador Gomez Martinez displayed erratic behavior & fled from deputies; a PIT maneuver was used to stop the pursuit

SUSPECT: Salvador Gomez Martinez, 35-year-old male resident of Yucaipa
VICTIM(S): Tam's Burgers; State of California
SUMMARY:
On May 21, 2021 at 9:23 a.m. dispatch received a call from Tam's Burgers regarding an ex-employee creating a disturbance. Deputy Dodson responded and contacted the subject in his vehicle at a neighboring business. Attempts to speak with the subject were unsuccessful and the subject was acting erratic. Additional units arrived and attempts to establish communication were unsuccessful. After several minutes of trying to establish communication with the driver, he drove away eastbound and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle traveled east to 3rd Street and the driver made a U-Turn in a gas station parking lot. He then traveled west on Yucaipa Blvd. running several red lights and was swerving from side to side. Before allowing the vehicle to enter the freeway, Deputy Rodriguez conducted a PIT maneuver and spun the vehicle 180 degrees with assisting units positioned in a manner to prevent escape. The subject refused commands, the vehicle's windows were breached, and the deputies gained access into the vehicle. The driver was removed from the driver’s seat and taken into custody without incident.
He was taken to Redlands Community Hospital for a pre-booking jail check and booked into Central Detention Center for violation of CVC2800.2.
