#LASD Introduces the Antelope Valley Traffic Task Force (AVTTF)
Palmdale Calif, -- In recent years there has been a substantial increase in the number of fatal and serious injury traffic collisions within and surrounding the Antelope Valley in which speed was a main factor. The speed involved in a collision is directly related to the extent of injury the parties endure.
In a collaborative effort to reduce fatal and injury traffic collisions; deputies from Palmdale Sheriff’s Station and Lancaster Sheriff’s Station along with officers from the CHP Antelope Valley Area have partnered together to form the Antelope Valley Traffic Task Force (AVTTF). These deputies and officers will be conducting speed enforcement operations throughout the Antelope Valley.
Recently, AVTTF’s inaugural speed enforcement operation took place on Avenue M near Challenger Way in the City of Lancaster for approximately 2 1/2 hours. It resulted in 85 speeding citations being issued, 1 verbal warning, 1 impounded vehicle, and 1 misdemeanor arrest.
The AVTTF will be conducting similar enforcement efforts throughout the Antelope Valley in the future and would like to remind motorists to slow down, be attentive, and drive defensive and sober so that you may avoid a collision. The life you save may be a friend, relative, or your own.
