Teen Driving Awareness
Graduations are usually the focus of many students and families this time of year, but is your teen driving the speed limit to graduation practice? Driving home safely from graduation gatherings? Avoiding reading those congratulatory texts while driving?
According to the CDC, “Every day, about seven teens aged 13-19 have died due to motor vehicle crashes, and hundreds more were injured” in 2018. Don’t let your child’s next drive be their last, educate your teens about the safe practices needed to drive:
-Make sure they are well rested before driving
-Give them options for a safe, sober way to get home
-Talk about distractions while driving such as texting, loud music and friends
-Wear a seatbelt at all times
The end of a school year can be an espeically risky time, and a vehicle can be a deadly weapon. Protect your child. It all starts with a talk.
