CKTN: Smoke testing of the sanitary sewer lines within Tongass Ave and Water St will occur May 27 between 8am-5pm 
The City of Ketchikan will be smoke testing the sanitary sewer lines within Tongass Ave and Water Street. Work will occur on May 27th, 2021. Testing will be between the hours of 8am -5pm.
Please Note: The “smoke” is not true smoke, but rather a white to gray mist containing a large percentage of atmospheric moisture that is highly visible at low concentrations. The smoke is clean and non-toxic to humans, pets, food, plants, and material items.
The smoke should not enter any premises unless a leak is present. The presence of smoke in your house should be reported immediately to the personnel conducting the tests, or by calling 907-617-2828.
To minimize the chance of smoke entering your home or busincess, please pour water into all drains including floor drains prior to the date of the test.
