Crime Bulletin for the Week of May 17-23, 2021
When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.
Notable Cases
On Tuesday, 05-18-21 at 4:17 a.m., Officer Dhaliwal and Officer Abuan were dispatched to a report of a trespasser at City Toyota. The reporting party saw the subject on video surveillance and provided a description to the dispatchers. The officers found the subject sitting in a vehicle. The 55-year old transient subject refused to cooperate with the officers, and he was subsequently arrested for trespassing, resisting arrest, and providing false information to a peace officer.
On Wednesday, 05-19-21 at approximately 5:23 a.m., numerous officers were dispatched to the 4500 block of Callan Boulevard on a report of a vehicle burglary in progress. The reporting party said he saw a subject go in through the rear doors of a white solar panel van. Officer Moody arrived first and found a van with a subject inside of it. Officer Lajoie responded and immediately recognized the subject in the van. The subject proceeded to barricade himself in the van, and a K-9 officer from South San Francisco Police Department arrived to assist. The subject, a 25-year old Pacifica resident, eventually got out of the van and was arrested for auto burglary, a parole violation, resisting arrest, and possession of a controlled substance.
On Sunday, 05-23-21 at approximately 2:00 a.m., Officer Hightower was on patrol and heard an automated alarm that appeared to be sounding from the Dollar Tree store on Mission Street. As Officer Hightower drove past the store, he noticed the rear door was fully open, and he verified the alarm was going off at the store. The officer looked across the street and saw a male subject with numerous boxes who appeared to be changing his clothing items. Officer Hightower repositioned his patrol car and then saw the subject start moving at a quick place, putting items onto a MUNI bus that was parked at the bus stop. The officer exited his vehicle to try to stop the bus, but the bus began traveling northbound on Mission Street approaching Crocker Avenue. Officer Hightower ran back to his patrol vehicle and initiated a traffic stop at Mission Street and Crocker Avenue. The officer boarded the bus and saw the suspect who got up from an area that had multiple boxes and sat away from the property. The officer detained the subject and called for back-up assistance. The store was, in fact burglarized, and the suspect had bolt cutters, wire cutters, a change of clothing and methamphetamine in his possession. Officer Hightower arrested the suspect, a 58-year old San Francisco resident, for burglary, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of burglary tools. The subject said he followed another subject inside the store. Officers were able to find the other subject, a 34-year old Richmond resident, and also arrested him for burglary.
Robberies
There was one robbery during the past week.
On Tuesday, 05-18-21 at 9:39 p.m., a 31-year old San Francisco resident was the victim of a robbery in front of the Trader Joe’s store. The victim said he met someone on Facebook Marketplace who was selling two computer GE Force RTX gaming graphic cards for $2,350 each. The victim arranged to meet the seller at the Westlake Shopping Center for the sale and exchange. The victim said the subject arrived in a blue Subaru WRX, and the victim’s two friends stood nearby during the exchange. The victim said the subject immediately started asking him to show him the money for the graphic cards. The victim told the subject to show him the graphic cards inside the boxes, and then he would give him the money. The victim said the suspect pulled out two boxes with “GE Force RTX graphic cards” printed on the box, and he also pulled out other products from the trunk. The victim asked the suspect to open the boxes so he could verify the computer graphic cards were inside of the boxes. The victim said during that time, he was holding an envelope containing $4,700 in his hand, close to his waist. The victim said the subject continued to ask him to give him the money without the victim being able to check inside the boxes. The victim said the suspect started closing the distance between them, and then said the suspect forcefully grabbed the envelope containing the money from his hand. The victim said the suspect then ran to the Subaru and drove out of the Westlake Shopping Center. The victim checked the contents of the boxes and found food/spam inside of the boxes. Officers were able to identify the suspect (who used a different name on Facebook), and they are seeking a warrant for the suspect, a 33-year old Fresno resident.

This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there.
