PG&E is conducting a preparedness drill involving low flying helicopters inspecting power lines today.
As part of their efforts to prepare for the upcoming fire season, PG&E is conducting a preparedness drill today (Friday May 28th). One of the things that this drill includes is low level flights by helicopters to inspect power lines. This models what occurs when the power is re-energized following a Public Safety Power Shutoff and may help to expedite that process in the future. PG&E ground teams will also be conducting inspections of power lines and facilities. The drill is scheduled to conclude this afternoon.
This is part of PG&E's work to expand their Community Wildlife Safety Program to increase safety in our communities and further reduce wildfire risks.
