Fitch Mountain evacuation exercise Saturday, June 5

On Saturday, June 5, residents of the Fitch Mountain community east of Healdsburg will take part in a coordinated evacuation drill involving the County of Sonoma, Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office, the City of Healdsburg, community groups and fire agencies. The exercise is part of a community-wide effort to prepare for wildfires and other potential disasters.

This exercise will provide public safety departments an opportunity to practice alerting an area using the Hi-Lo sirens and to further test the County’s alerting system. Residents will have the opportunity to review the process of evacuating their homes and leaving their neighborhoods.

Schedule of events:

  • 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. - Exercise begins. Registered participants will receive a SoCo Alert notification on their phones prompting them to evacuate to the designated assembly point, the Healdsburg Community Center. Hi-Lo sirens also will be activated by Sonoma County Sheriff’s vehicles to alert participants that the exercise has begun.
  • 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. : Emergency preparedness resource fair
  • 11 a.m. : Brief remarks from command team and leadership
Please expect additional traffic congestion along North and South Fitch Mountain Roads during the exercise.
