Single Vehicle Collision 

Newark, California (Wednesday, June 2, 2021)

On Monday, May 31, 2021 at approximately 2:58 a.m., Newark Police Officers and members of the Alameda County Fire Department responded to a reported solo vehicle collision into a tree in the 35000 block of Cedar Blvd. 

Upon arrival, emergency personnel found a collision scene and rendered aid to the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a 24-year old male. Unfortunately, the driver ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  

The preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling westbound on Cedar Blvd. when it crossed both westbound lanes and onto the center median where it struck a tree.

At this time, per normal protocol, this collision remains under investigation.
