El Cerrito's National Night Out 2021

The El Cerrito Police Department is pleased to announce National Night Out 2021 on Tuesday, August 3rd, 2021!

National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW.) The event is designed to:

  • Heighten crime prevention and drug prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for and participation in local anti-crime programs;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-cooperation;
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighbors are organized and have ownership of their neighborhoods.
This year marks the twenty third year of participating in NNO for the City of El Cerrito. Join us and 295 other cities in the State of California and thousands of communities nationwide in celebrating National Night Out in 2021.
Along with the traditional display of outdoor lights and front porch vigils, cities, towns and neighborhoods celebrate' NNO with a variety of events and activities such as:
  • Block parties
  • Cookouts and potlucks
  • Visits from Police, Fire and City officials
  • Crime Prevention Programs
NNO has proven to be an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships in our fight for a safer nation. Plus, the benefits the City of El Cerrito derives from NNO will most certainly extend well beyond the one night.

National Night Out is our chance to celebrate community by welcoming new neighbors, reconnecting with friends and fostering better relationships with local police and first responders.  This year marks the 38th anniversary of this event with over 38 million people across the country expected to participate. We want neighborhoods to go back to the basics by getting more neighbors involved, more intimately, through numerous block parties held throughout our city.  Celebrate community by hosting a block party for your neighbors. If you would like to host an event, please complete and submit a National Night Out Block Party Host Sign Up Form by July 18, 2021.
