Advisory

Difficult weekend in the Antelope Valley with numerous fatal collisions. AV: SLOW DOWN IN OUR TOWN!

Antelope Valley: SLOW DOWN!

This was an incredibly difficult weekend in the Antelope Valley. We had numerous fatal traffic collisions all across our city.

A young man was the passenger in a vehicle when the car crashed into a light pole. He tragically passed away and the driver is in critical condition.

A male adult was driving a mini bike with a female adult as his passenger. Neither party was wearing a helmet. A driver in a vehicle did not see them and struck them. The female suffered numerous injuries including a traumatic brain injury. The male suffered an extensive injury to his leg.

Two children and two adult women passed away in another collision. A third child is in critical condition.

We must do better AV.

1. SLOW DOWN
2. Mini bikes, dirt bikes, ATV's, scooters and other homemade motorized vehicles should never be on the street and the riders should ALWAYS wear a helmet.
3. ALWAYS wear a seatbelt.
4. With graduation and summer upon us, many teens will be on the road with graduation gift cars or enjoying summer. Step up as the more experienced, cautious driver and drive defensively.
5. Don't text and drive.

Accidents are bound to happen. But accidents become tragically fatal accidents when speed and/or alcohol & drugs are a factor.

Stay alert, drive safely and slow down. Let us all get to our destinations safely.
