Out to Protect collaborates with Morgan Hill Police Department on LGBTQ+ awareness training for Police Officers and Dispatchers

The Morgan Hill Police Department is honored and proud to announce that during Pride month, all sworn officers and members of the dispatch center have completed the training course on Sexual orientation and gender identity certified by the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. The program focused on:

  • The difference between sexual orientation and gender identity and how these two aspects of identity relate to each other and race, culture, and religion.
  • Terminology used to identify and describe members of the LGBTQ+ community members.
  • How to create an inclusive workplace within law enforcement for our LGBTQ+ community members.
  • Major moments in history related to the LGBTQ+ Community and law enforcement.
  • How law enforcement can respond effectively to domestic violence and hate crimes involving our LGBTQ+ community members.
Out To Protect founder Greg Miraglia’s overall goal in developing this course was to improve the culture in law enforcement for sexual orientation and gender identity minority employees and improve law enforcement’s effectiveness in serving the LGBTQ+ community in California.

The Morgan Hill Police Department believes in equity, diversity, and inclusiveness, providing everyone in the community a voice in the fight against inequality.
