*UPDATE* #LASD Century Station Detectives Identify/Arrest Suspect in Vicious Attack of a Female, #Gardena
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Century Station detectives were advised the suspect, Antoine Larue Rainey, was being detained by Long Beach Police Department personnel on the Wardlow Blue Line Station Pax in Long Beach, Friday night, June 4, 2021 at approximately 7:20 p.m. The suspect was then taken into custody by LASD Detectives at approximately 9:30 p.m., after he was positively identified.
According to Long Beach P.D. a family member saw the news story and immediately recognized the Suspect. Fearing for the safety of the community, the concerned family member contacted Long Beach P.D. and gave them the Suspect’s location.
Detective McInnis was also contacted by a 63 year-old Black woman Friday night who stated she saw the coverage of the attack at the gas station in Gardena on the news and immediately recognized the Suspect as the person who attacked her on May, 29, 2021 at approximately 4:30 p.m. Suspect Rainey punched her repeatedly while she was seated in her vehicle stopped at a light. The incident was initially reported to the Compton Sheriff’s Station.
Suspect Antoine Larue Rainey is a male Black 37 years-old and resident of Long Beach.
He was booked at the Century Regional Detention Facility on Friday, June 4, 2021, for assault likely to produce great bodily injury 245(a)(4) P.C. and held in lieu of $30,000 bail.
He appeared in court today, Tuesday, June 8, 2021 and was charged with two felony counts of assault for both attacks.

Original Press Release**
On Sunday, May 30, 2021, deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Century Station responded to an assault call at the 500 block of Rosecrans Avenue in the city of Gardena at approximately 7:09 p.m.
The victim, a female Hispanic adult, stopped at a gasoline station. As she began to pump gasoline, the suspect drove into the parking lot and parked directly in front of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect calmly exited his vehicle, walked towards the victim, and without warning or provocation, punched the victim, causing her to fall to the ground.
While the victim was on the ground, the suspect repeatedly punched her in the head and face.
During the attack, the suspect grabbed the victim's hair and slammed her head against the vehicle and onto the ground several times. After the assault, the suspect calmly walking back to his vehicle, where he enters his vehicle and drives away. The victim did not recognize the suspect and firmly believes she does not know the suspect personally.
The suspect did not take any personal belongings from the victim.
At this time, the attack appears to be completely random and unprovoked.
The victim sustained severe injuries to her head and face due to the attack and was subsequently transported to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries.
The victim has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.
The suspect is a Black male adult, 30-35 years old, short dark hair, approximately 6’0”-6’5”, 300-350 pounds. He was last seen wearing dark shorts, dark shoes, and no shirt. The suspect’s vehicle is a Ford Expedition, an older model, matte black paint, and black rims.
Century Station detectives are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect involved in this crime. Anyone who witnessed the incident or any suspicious activity in or around the 500 block of Rosecrans Avenue in the city of Gardena on Sunday, May 30, 2021, at approximately 7:09 p.m., is asked to contact Century Station Detective K.
