Lincoln County Health Department Begins Mobile COVID-19 Vaccine Clinics

The Lincoln County Health Department is beginning mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinics. The first location will be at the County Market in Winfield on Friday, June 11th. Vaccines will be available from noon until 5 p.m. COVID-19 vaccines are free. No appointments are required, and no insurance is needed. Winfield is located on the eastern side of Lincoln County, near Highway 79.

The goal of mobile vaccine clinics is to make COVID-19 vaccines more available to the community.

“We are hopeful that getting out into the community will make it easier for residents to access the COVID-19 vaccine” says Molly Meyer, RN, the Nursing Coordinator at the Lincoln County Health Department. “We understand that people are cautious, so we are here to answer questions and educate as much as we can” added Meyer.

Community members will have the choice of the Janssen Johnson & Johnson (J&J) or Moderna vaccines at the mobile clinic in Winfield. J&J is a one-shot vaccine, while Moderna requires a second dose 28 days after the first. According to a recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the mRNA vaccines (such as Pfizer and Moderna) reduce risk of infection by 91%.

As of Wednesday June 9th, 26.2% of Lincoln County residents have initiated vaccination. This is compared to 42.5% of total residents in the state of Missouri. Neighbor counties Pike and St. Charles have vaccine initiation rates of 27.8% and 45.2%, respectively.

For residents who are interested in being vaccinated but cannot attend the mobile clinic, the Lincoln County Health Department holds regular clinics at the office in Troy. You can schedule an appointment by going to www.lchdmo.org/covid19-vaccine
