Vehicle vs Tree near E. Dunne and Walnut Grove
On Sunday, June 6th at approximately 5:30 a.m., the Morgan Hill Police Department responded to multiple reports of a solo traffic collision on E. Dunne Ave near the intersection of Walnut Grove. Officers quickly arrived at the scene to find a vehicle had collided into a large tree near the intersection. Both occupants had been pulled from the vehicle that quickly became engulfed in flames. Police and Fire personnel provided medical aid as the vehicle fire was extinguished. Both occupants were transported to the hospital by paramedics. The female passenger had sustained major injures, and it is unknown if the passenger was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision.
Traffic investigators responded to the scene to conduct the collision investigation. It was determined the involved vehicle was driving westbound on E. Dunne. As the vehicle passed the intersection of E. Dunne and Walnut Grove, it traveled off the roadway and collided head-on with a large tree in the center divider. Investigators interviewed witnesses at the scene and are trying to determine if alcohol or drugs are a suspected factor in the collision. The female passenger is currently recovering in a local trauma hospital.
