Crime Bulletin for the Week of May 31-June 6, 2021

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Thursday, 06-03-21 at approximately 4:20 p.m., an 18-year old Colma resident fired three .45 caliber bullets into the front window of a residence on the 500 block of Atlanta Street. This occurred after the subject had an argument with a 21-year old Daly City resident who was in the home with his mother, grandmother, and two young children. The subject fled in a silver Honda, and officers arrested him two hours later in Daly City. The subject was booked for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, shooting into an inhabited dwelling, illegal firearm discharge with negligence, and carrying a loaded firearm in a public place.

On Friday, 06-04-21 at 9:08 a.m., Officer Zhang and Officer Perdomo were dispatched to the Geneva Motel on a report of a subject breaking into a black BMW. The reporting party said the subject had a hockey stick, a pair of bolt cutters and a screwdriver as he was inflicting damage to the BMW.  The dispatchers updated and said the subject was igniting a green Lexus on fire. Officer Chittenden and Officer Jackson-Berrios also responded. The officers found the subject matching the description, and Officer Perdomo’s K-9 partner assisted in apprehending the subject. Officers arrested the 44-year old transient subject for the subject for burglary, arson, vandalism, and obstructing/resisting a peace officer.

On Friday, 06-04-21 at 12:05 p.m., Officer Ciucci and Officer Mellado were dispatched to the Ross Store at Serramonte Shopping Center on a report of a male and female subject who had stolen merchandise and were on their way to the Cost Plus World Market. The reporting party gave a description of the subjects, and Officer Mendiara found the subjects at the McDonald’s restaurant on Serramonte Boulevard. Officer Mendiara recovered two baby strollers filled with stolen merchandise. The male subject had a dagger concealed in his waistband, and crystal methamphetamine on his person. The female had burglary tools in her possession. The Ross employee positively identified the subjects, as well as the stolen merchandise. Officer Mellado arrested the male subject, a 24-year old Merced resident, for shoplifting, conspiracy to commit a crime, disobeying a court order (to stay away from the female in this case), possession of a controlled substance, and carrying a dirk or a dagger. Officer Mellado arrested the female suspect, a 31-year old Merced resident, for shoplifting, conspiracy to commit a crime, possession of burglary tools, and for three warrants.

On Friday, 06-04-21 at approximately 6:39 p.m., Officer Ciucci and Officer Mellado were dispatched to parking lot A6 at the Serramonte Shopping Center on a report of a person who had pointed a firearm at the reporting party and fled in a silver Chevrolet Malibu. The reporting party/victim, a 39-year old Alameda resident, said he was driving with his wife and one year old son to Mod Pizza at Serramonte Shopping Center for dinner. The victim said another vehicle approached him from the opposite direction and then began to follow them. The victim pulled his vehicle into an unoccupied parking spot and decided to sit in the vehicle to see if the other car would leave. The victim said the female driver of the Malibu was irritated and yelled something directed at him. The victim said he got out of his vehicle to see what the woman wanted and he told her that they had a baby and to be careful. The female then said, “I don’t care if you have a baby”, and then opened the driver’s side door and produced a silver/black handgun and pointed it at the victim. The victim said he thought he was about to get shot and slowly walked back to his vehicle. The victim said the female then drove out of the parking lot. The victim described the suspect as a light-skinned black female adult, 5’0”, heavy set, with brown eyes and curly black/brown hair that was “pushed back”.

On Saturday, 06-05-21 at 12:00 a.m., Officer Leyson and Officer Arguelles were dispatched to the unit block of Martin Court on a report of a family disturbance. The reporting party said the father of her daughter was intoxicated inside the house and did not want to leave. The 36-year old reporting party said the subject did not live with her, and she did not want him in her house. The officers contacted the subject and told him that the reporting party did not want him in the house anymore. Officers escorted the subject, a 31-year old Oakland resident, out of the residence, and they advised him to call a rideshare so that he could go home. The subject said he wasn’t leaving until he got all of his belongings. Officer Arguelles agreed to retrieve the belongings, and Officer Leyson stood outside with the subject at the residence. During this time, the subject was pacing back and forth and threatening to “f-up” the officers. Officer Hightower arrived to assist, and the subject threw the bag of belongings Officer Arguelles had retrieved for him at Officer Hightower. The subject then took on a combative stance and continued to threaten them to fight. The officers arrested the subject for resisting a peace officer.

The Loss Prevention Officer told Officer Greene that he saw the subject select a power tool, pull the wires off of the box, and put the tool in an empty plastic bag. The male then put a hand drill under his jacket to conceal the item, walked past all points of sale out of the store and walked out of the store without paying for the items. Officer Greene said that while Officer Grogan was speaking with the subject, he saw that the male subject dropped a hand tool and kicked it under the patrol vehicle. Officer Greene subsequently arrested the subject, a 41-year old transient, for shoplifting. Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
