Last night, while Newark Police officers were on a special detail for illegal fireworks suppression, officers observed three subjects lighting fireworks in the area of Cherry St and George Ave.

Officer Kapu made contact with an 18-year old male, and two male juvenile teens.Officer Kapu ultimately recovered several mortar style illegal fireworks. A follow up search conducted at one of the subject’s home resulted in the discovery of additional illegal fireworks.
