A Moreno Valley man suffered fatal injuries when a jet-ski exploded at the launch ramp at River Shores Estates, Earp

INCIDENT: Fatal Boating Incident
LOCATION: River Shore Estates, 50918 Parker Dam Road, Earp Ca.
VICTIM: Juan Antonio Pineda-Flores, 48 years old, resident of Moreno Valley, California
SUMMARY:
On Friday, June 11, 2021 at 12:39 p.m. deputies responded to a call for a boating incident at River Shore Estates in Earp, Ca. On arrival, medical staff from the Buckskin Fire Department and River Medical Ambulance were tending to the victim, later identified as Juan Pineda-Flores. Based on witness statements, Pineda-Flores was attempting to start a Jet-Ski that was still on the trailer at the launch ramp. During start up, fuel/vapors inside the hull of the Jet-Ski ignited, causing it to explode. Juan was ejected from the Jet-Ski into the water.
Juan was brought onto shore and medical aid was rendered. Juan was later transported to the La Paz Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.
