...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON
THROUGH THIS EVENING...
* WHAT...High wave action, strong currents, and dangerous
swimming conditions expected. Piers may be heavily swamped by
waves.
* WHERE...Oceana and Muskegon counties.
* WHEN...From 2 PM EDT this afternoon through 10 PM EDT this
evening.
* IMPACTS...Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water
and high waves can sweep people off piers.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds from the north will create strong
currents in the water near the north piers. Beaches with
dangerous currents near the north piers include Mears State Park
in Pentwater, Medbery Park near Montague, Muskegon State Park,
The Grand Haven north shore, Holland State Park, North Beach in
South Haven, and Tiscornia Park in St Joseph.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions
and do not venture out on piers. Please check with your local
authorities on potential beach closures.
