Lincoln County Health Department Expands Access to COVID-19 Vaccines
In an effort to make COVID-19 vaccines readily available to all county residents, the Lincoln County Health Department (LCHD) is launching a series of mobile vaccine clinics. This week will be the second mobile COVID-19 vaccine clinic. The location will be at the Mini Market / Phillips 66 in Hawk Point on Thursday, June 17th. Vaccines will be available from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. No appointments are required and vaccines are free. Hawk Point is located on the western side of Lincoln County, near Highway 47.
LCHD’s Nursing Coordinator, Molly Meyer, RN, noted that the last mobile clinic was very successful. “We were able to administer 27 vaccines at the County Market in Winfield on Friday June 11th. People were very happy see us out in the community” said Meyer.
Individuals will have the option of the Janssen Johnson & Johnson (J&J) or Moderna vaccines at this week’s mobile clinic in Hawk Point. J&J is a one-shot vaccine and Moderna is a 2-dose vaccine, which requires a second dose 28 days after the first. According to a recent report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the mRNA vaccines (such as Pfizer and Moderna) reduce risk of infection by 91%. Hepatitis A vaccines will also be available.
As of Tuesday June 15th, 26.6% of Lincoln County residents have initiated COVID-19 vaccination. This is compared to 43.0% of total residents in the state of Missouri.
For residents who are interested in being vaccinated but cannot attend the mobile clinic, LCHD holds regular COVID-19 vaccine clinics at the office in Troy. You can schedule an appointment by going to www.lchdmo.org/covid19-vaccine
