INCIDENT: Battling Marijuana Cultivation
LOCATION: 9300 block of Redwood Avenue, Hesperia
SUMMARY:
On June 4, 2021 Deputies with the Hesperia Station along with personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to 7300 block of Redwood Avenue with reports of a fire near the location. Deputies and Firefighters arrived on scene and determined the fire was coming from a transformer near the location. After the fire was extinguished, Southern California Edison was requested to the scene.
Evidence located on scene lead Southern California Edison Investigators to a residence on the 7300 block of Redwood Avenue where an active electrical bypass was located. The Hesperia Gang/MET team along with the San Bernardino County Marijuana Team responded to the location and took over the investigation.
A search warrant was drafted and severed at the location where a large marijuana cultivation with approximately 1,930 marijuana plants were confiscated. Edison Investigators determined the illegal electrical bypass overloaded the transformer causing the fire. Two subjects were arrested and cited for PC 498 and HS 11358.
The City of Hesperia Code Enforcement responded to the location and cited the residence for city municipal code violations.
Anyone with information regarding the illegal cultivation of marijuana is urged to contact the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station anonymously at (760) 947-1500 or the We-Tip hotline at 1 (800) 78-CRIME.
