On June 17, 2021, deputies with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of possible drug activity at a location on Highway 221A in Mooresboro. Deputies were in the area when they observed a sports style motorcycle traveling North on Highway 221A. Deputies attempted to stop the motorcycle for a registration violation, but the vehicle continued on to a shop located at 5982 US 221A. Once at the location, the rider of the motorcycle, who was later identified as Justin Scott Greene, got off the motorcycle and attempted to run into the shop. Deputies chased Greene and apprehended Greene before he could enter the shop. Once deputies caught Greene, Greene began trying to resist arrest by fighting deputies. Greene was arrested for the traffic violations, resisting arrest and two counts of assault on a government official. A search of Greene, incident to arrest, turned up 3 pounds and 4.1 ounces of marijuana and $6,045 in US currency. Also recovered during the search were 11 counterfeit pills, suspected of containing fentanyl, and 2 baggies of what is believed to  be heroin. Greene was arrested and transported to the Rutherford County Detention Center.

Deputies, along with the assistance of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, applied for a search warrant for the shop, which is known to be maintained by Greene. After the search warrant was issued and executed, deputies located 2 pounds and 5.1 ounces of marijuana, 10 grams of methamphetamine, 2 grams of Psilocybin Mushrooms, 2 baggies of an unknown white powdery substance, a pill bottle containing more unknown white powdery substance, a loaded firearm, and $533 in cash. In addition, a stolen motorcycle was recovered from the location.

Justin Greene was charged with: Possession With Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Deliver Schedule VI Controlled Substance; Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substances; Firearm by Felon; two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Substance; Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance; Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle; two counts of Resist/Obstruct/Delay of a Public Officer; 2 counts of Assault on a Government Official; Driving While License Revoked; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; and,  Failure to Display a Registration Plate.

A total of 5 pounds and 9.2 ounces of marijuana was seized along with $6,578 in cash. The suspected narcotics will be submitted to the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab and, dependent upon examination and identification, could result in further charges.

Justin Scott Greene received a $95,000 secured bond.
