Greenwood PD has an important message for the community! You may pop fireworks in Greenwood between the hours of 8 am and 10 pm from June 27-July 4, 2021. Reminder, your HOA covenants may have stricter policies or not allow them at all, but that is not a police matter.
Sec. 42-4. - Fireworks.
(a)State law provisions incorporated. The town incorporates by reference the provisions of R.S. 51:652—51:660.(b)Prohibited acts. It shall be unlawful for any person to at any time possess, sell or use any type of fireworks, the possession, sale, and use of which is prohibited in R.S. 51:652—51:660.(c)Permitted dates and hours for sale, discharge, ignition or explosion. The sale, discharge, ignition or explosion of fireworks authorized for sale pursuant to R.S. 51:652—51:660, is prohibited within the town limits, except between June 27 and July 4, inclusive, and December 19 and January 1, inclusive, of each year. On such dates set forth in this subsection, it shall be unlawful for any person to discharge, ignite or explode fireworks within the city limits between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m.; provided, however, that such activities shall not be unlawful on December 31 of each year between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. and on January 1 of each year between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 1:00 a.m.(d)Public displays. Nothing contained in this section shall be construed to affect the use of fireworks for public displays in accordance with R.S. 51:652—51:660.
