Alcohol Sale Requirements
Quality of life issues in our community is a top priority. Communities throughout Southern California face issues of public intoxication and underage drinking. Deputies from the Colorado River Station / Needles Police will be educating local businesses who sell alcohol to ensure they are following the guidelines of California Alcohol Beverage Control (ABC) rules and regulations. The Colorado River Station / Needles Police is sharing the following information for educational purposes:
Per Business and Profession Code Section 25602(a): Every person who sells, furnishes gives or causes to be sold, furnished or given away, any alcoholic beverages to any habitual drunkard or to any obviously intoxicated person is guilty of a misdemeanor.
Per Business and Profession Code 25660: A licensee is authorized to demand documentary evidence of the age and identity of any person prior to the sale whenever there is the slightest doubt of the age of the prospective patron.
It is hoped that by informing the public and businesses about alcohol sale requirements the incidents of public intoxication will be reduced. Additionally, it is a violation of the Needles City Municipal Code to possess alcohol or drugs, including marijuana, in a City park.
It is also a violation of the law to possess an open container of marijuana in a car or on a boat and to consume marijuana in public.
