Crime Alert Bulletin for the Week of June 14-20, 2021

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Monday, 06-14-21 at approximately 10:57 a.m., several officers were dispatched to a residence on the unit block of Fairview Avenue on a report of two brothers fighting with each other. A 56-year old resident was the victim of an assault with a deadly weapon by his 58-year old brother who stabbed him with a knife or screwdriver, causing injuries to his head, back, left shoulder, and left arm. The 58-year old brother was hiding in a neighbor’s backyard and was subsequently booked into jail.

On Tuesday, 06-15-21 at 5:48 p.m., Officer Covarrubias and Officer Smith were dispatched to Skyline Drive and Gateway Drive on a report of a just-occurred dumping. A Pacifica police officer advised he had contacted the subject who was dumping a plethora of items under the overpass. The 25-year old subject lived nearby and told the officer he had seen trash underneath before and believed it was fine to discard items in the area. Officer Covarrubias issued a citation to the subject, and the subject retrieved the discarded items prior to leaving the scene.

Between Thursday, 06-17-21 at 9:00 p.m. to Friday, 06-18-21 at 9:00 a.m., an unknown suspect cut off a catalytic converter from a 2005 Toyota Prius that was parked near the intersection of San Diego Avenue and Los Olivos Avenue.

On Friday, 06-18-21 at 8:05 p.m., Officer Premenko was dispatched to Dick’s Sporting Goods on a report of two males who were possibly attempting to steal from the store. The store manager told the officer one subject was upstairs, and other was downstairs. Officer Premenko and the store employee walked upstairs to a subject who had a bicycle and a shopping cart full of miscellaneous items. The subject spontaneously told them that he wasn’t stealing. The officer and the subject exited the store, and the dispatchers advised the subject was on probation and had six outstanding warrants. Officer Premenko asked the subject if he had anything illegal in his possession, and the subject said he did not. When the officer searched the subject’s possessions, he found a plastic container containing Fentanyl and methamphetamine. The officer could not book the subject into jail because the subject had a medical condition, and he issued a citation to the subject, a 30-year old North Highlands resident.

On Saturday, 06-19-21 at 4:01 p.m., Officer Mendiara and Officer N. Martin were dispatched to the 4700 block of Callan Boulevard on a report of the reporting party’s brother yelling outside her apartment building. The 48-year old reporting party had a restraining order against her 45-year old brother who is ordered to stay 100 yards away from her. The reporting party was afraid and called 911. The officers arrested the subject for violating a restraining order, possession of a narcotics smoking pipe, and for a parole violation.

On Sunday, 06-20-21 at approximately 2:22 a.m., a 37-year old Daly City resident was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after he rear ended a Daly City Police Department patrol vehicle that was stopped at a red light on Flournoy Street and San Jose Avenue.

On Sunday, 06-20-21 at approximately 4:45 p.m., a 52-year old Pacifica resident was the victim of an assault with a deadly weapon when an unknown suspect threw an approximate one-pound rock at his head. The victim raised his hands to block the rock, and the rock hit his wrist. This occurred after both of their unleashed dogs were involved in a scuffle on the walking trail north of the Mussel Rock parking lot. This investigation is continuing.

On Sunday, 06-20-21 at 9:14 p.m., Officer Reyes observed several vehicle code violations and attempted to conduct a traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle on 250 90th Street. The driver immediately pulled to the curb and attempted to walk away from the traffic stop. Officer Reyes and Officer Greene detained the subject and found a loaded Glock handgun with a loaded magazine and a round in the chamber in his waistband. The officers found over six pounds of marijuana for sales, another firearm, a loaded drum magazine, six cellphones, sales indicia, and $8,786 in cash. The officers arrested the suspect, a 23-year old Carlsbad resident, for being in possession of a concealed firearm on his person, possession of a concealed firearm inside of a vehicle, carrying an unregistered firearm, carrying a loaded firearm, carrying a loaded firearm not in lawful possession, carrying an unregistered firearm, carrying a firearm in a public place, possession of an extended firearm, and for unlawful possession of marijuana for sale.

Between Saturday, 06-19-21 at 11:30 p.m. and Sunday, 06-20-21 at approximately 8:00 p.m., an unknown suspect shot into an inhabited dwelling through the first-floor bedroom window of a residence on the unit block of Camelot Court. Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
