Excessive Heat Warning until 01:00PM Monday

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with highs warming to the 90s and peaking above 100 degrees Sunday and Monday.

* WHERE...Much of Western Washington.

* WHEN...From 2 PM Friday to 1 PM PDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Unusual warmth and record high temperatures will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities and for the elderly and those without air conditioning.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Nighttime relief from the heat will be reduced especially in urban areas which will remaining warmer later into the night. Low temperatures will be in the 60s to mid 70s.

* AFFECTED AREAS: WESTERN WHATCOM COUNTY ... SOUTHWEST INTERIOR ... WESTERN SKAGIT COUNTY ... EVERETT AND VICINITY ... TACOMA AREA ... HOOD CANAL AREA ... LOWER CHEHALIS VALLEY AREA ... Instructions:

Drink plenty of fluids, especially water, seek air-conditioned locations, stay out of the sun during the heat of the afternoon, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstance. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9 1 1.
