Eluding | Teens Arrested After Fleeing

On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at 12:04am, a Middleton police officer stopped a vehicle on University Avenue at Park Street for a traffic violation.   As the officer was approaching the vehicle, the driver fled on University Avenue at a high rate of speed.  The driver turned off the vehicle lights and was driving recklessly. Officers did not pursue the vehicle but followed from a safe distance.  Another Middleton officer was able to deploy stop sticks in an attempt to deflate the vehicle tires to safely stop the vehicle.  Officers continued to follow the vehicle and located it minutes later, disabled along US Highway 12 near University Avenue.

The occupants fled from the vehicle on foot.  A coordinated search of the area was conducted with assistance from K-9 units from our agency and the Verona Police Department, as well as deputies from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office, and an officer from the Shorewood Hills Police Department.  In less than 30 minutes, thanks in part to the help of several observant witnesses, the three individuals who fled from the vehicle were located and taken into custody at three separate locations.  The K-9 units were also able to locate evidence the subjects had discarded as they were fleeing on foot.

The driver, Jaden Wynn, 17, of Madison, was tentatively charged with felony fleeing to elude, resisting or obstructing an officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia.  The passengers, Houston Wamble, 17, and Damon White, 18, both also of Madison, were tentatively charged with resisting or obstructing an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia.  All three subjects were transported to the Dane County Jaill.

The Middleton Police Department thanks all our assisting police agencies in addition to the several observant witnesses who assisted us.
