Full Notification

On today's date at approximately 2:22am the Guilderland Police Department responded to a burglar alarm at CVS, 2040 Western Avenue.  Upon arrival officers observed a male suspect at the rear of the building.  The subject fled on foot and after a brief foot pursuit the suspect, John W. Whiteford, age 39 was taken into custody.  Whiteford resides at 944 3rd Street , Rensselaer, NY.  Whiteford was charged with the following:

- Attempted Burglary in the second degree, a Class C Felony
- Criminal Mischief in the second degree, a Class D Felony
- Tampering with physical evidence, a Class E Felony
- Resisting Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor
- Possession of Burglar's Tools, a Class A Misdemeanor

Whiteford, who is currently on parole for burglary, was arraigned before Hon. Judge Randall, Guilderland Town Court, and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
