STOPPING THE ACTIVE THREAT

Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with Isothermal Community College and Thomas Jefferson Grammar School hosted: the Active Shooter Threat Training Program, on the campus of Thomas Jefferson Grammar School.  
 
Capt. Leon Godlock, facilitated the training and instructors for the training were from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Charleston, SC and Cheltenham, Maryland . 

Officers in the training came from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Spindale, Forest City, Rutherfordton Police Department and the Dorchester Police Department and Clover Police Department in S.C.
 
The Active Shooter Threat Training Program (ASTTP) is a dynamic, hands-on training program designed to equip law enforcement officers with the knowledge and skills required to successfully end an active threat event.  The ASTTP helped prepare officers to employ Active Shooter Threat Tactics through dynamic, interactive drills and scenario based training.  The intensive and challenging program covered a variety of tactical subjects for officers including: Single Officer Response Tactics, Limited Penetration Tactics, Tactical Medical Training, Multiple Officer Response and Link-Up Procedures, Response to an Explosive Hazard, and Post Shooting Considerations.
