A message from Chief Ryan Strong, who is the City of Wayne’s Emergency Management Coordinator:
Good afternoon, Wayne. I am sure many of you are frustrated and stressed regarding the recent flooding.
First of all, safety should be everyone’s number one priority. Do not walk or drive into any flooded areas under any circumstance. Venoy Road is closed between Glenwood and Michigan. We do not have an estimate for opening.
If your basement is flooded, document the damage with photographs and written description of damage and estimate of costs. Do not remove any items from your home without documenting the damage. You should contact your insurance company. Residents should also contact the Department of Public Works at 734-721-8600. If you get a voicemail recording, do not just hang up. Please leave a message with your name, address, phone number, and that you have a flooded basement. Be cautious cleaning your basement – wear a mask and gloves.
The City of Wayne is working on ordering some dumpsters. Further information will be shared as soon as possible. Please stay safe.
