| Narrative: |
On 6/26/21, at approximately 1:07 AM, Mr. David Hernandez was inside his cell when he suffered a medical emergency and became unresponsive. Deputies and jail medical staff immediately rendered emergency aid until Ventura City Fire personnel and AMR paramedics arrived and took over life-saving efforts. Life-saving measures proved unsuccessful and Mr. Hernandez was pronounced deceased at the jail.
The cause of death is under investigation by the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau, pending autopsy results from the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office. As a matter of policy, the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau investigates all inmate deaths.
