Fireworks such as hand held sparklers, ground based sparklers, and novelty items specifically referred to in the photo accompanying this post; are now legal. HOWEVER, firecrackers, bottle rockets, shells, mortars, Roman candles, ash cans, cherry bombs, lady fingers and aerial displays; are still illegal. It is an offense — punishable by fine — to purchase, use, discharge, cause to be discharged, ignite, fire or otherwise set in action, or possess, prohibited fireworks. In recent years Little Egg Harbor has had victims with serious injuries, structure and brush fires, and serious damage to boats and property caused by illegal fireworks. We will have police patrols specifically targeting fireworks violations this upcoming weekend and for the rest of the summer. Be good neighbors and enjoy the holiday weekend!
