INCIDENT:  Assault with a Deadly Weapon
 
LOCATION: Kasota Road and State Hwy 18, in the Town of Apple Valley, CA
 
SUSPECT:  Mark Anthony Cruz, a 36-year-old resident of Barstow, CA
 
VICTIM:      Confidential 55-year-old resident of Victorville, CA
 
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at approximately 1:42 pm, deputies from the Apple Valley Police Department were dispatched to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon report near Kasota Road and State Hwy 18 in the Town of Apple Valley.
 
Upon arrival, deputies located the victim lying on the ground with injuries to his face. The victim was in and out of consciousness and was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center and is currently in critical condition.
 
Through investigative means, the suspect was identified as Mark Anthony Cruz. On June 24, 2021, Cruz was booked into the High Desert Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon. He is scheduled to appear in the Victorville Superior Court on June 29, 2021 and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
