San Leandro Police Arrest Carjacking Suspects In Oakland

On Wednesday, June 30th, around 3:10 pm, a San Leandro Police Officer located a carjacking vehicle, which had occurred a couple of days prior from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction.  Because the suspects were armed, for safety concerns, the Officer elected to wait for additional resources.

The suspect began driving erratically upon seeing the marked police vehicle, and the Officer observed them fleeing into the City of Oakland.  Moments later, the Officer came upon the same car, which had collided with two parked vehicles near the intersection of 109th Avenue and Sunnyside Drive in Oakland. The Officer observed three suspects feeling from the car.

With a coordinated effort from Oakland Police, San Leandro Police safely apprehend three males; two adults and a juvenile.  Officers also located a ghost rifle inside the carjacking vehicle, along with a high-capacity rifle magazine.  Ghost guns are weapons with no serial numbers or labels of a manufacturer.

“We are grateful for the assistance provided by the Oakland Police and Alameda County Sheriff’s Office in us swiftly apprehending the suspects and removing another illegal weapon off the street,” said Lieutenant Ali Khan.
