SLPD Investigates 2 Shootings in Less Than 21 Hours Apart

On Tuesday, June 29th, in the evening hours, SLPD responded to reports of multiple shooters shooting to and from two vehicles at the San Leandro Marina.  Several callers stated suspects in two SUVs were driving near El Toritos shooting at each other.

Moments later, Officers located a vehicle with bullet holes near the intersection of Marina Boulevard and Merced Street.  SLPD Detectives responded to the scene and arrested an adult male, believed to the shooter from this incident.  A handgun was also located inside the vehicle.  Officers found 17 spent shell casings at the crime scene also.

SLPD Detectives are currently looking for the second suspect vehicle, a newer model tan Volkswagen SUV.

On Wednesday, June 30th, at 4 pm, SLPD responded to a drive-by shooting in the 700 block of Cary Drive.  Multiple shell casings were located at the crime scene, and audio captured from an area home surveillance indicates the weapon was a fully automatic gun. 
Detectives are currently working leads in identifying the suspect.

“We are thankful for alert witnesses in both incidents who called 911 and provided pertinent information that has aided our investigators in apprehending a violent suspect and obtaining leads on the second incident,” said Lieutenant Ali Khan.
