State prison inmate Liberty Briley is back in custody.
Briley was apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service July 1. He is currently being held in the Brule County Jail until arrangements are made to transport him back to Sioux Falls.
Briley was one of three inmates who left the Sioux Falls Community Work Center without authorization on September 4, 2020. Inmates Joseph Davis and Kevan Whiteman were previously apprehended and returned to DOC custody.
Briley is currently serving a five-year sentence for forgery from Hughes County.
Leaving a non-secure correctional facility without authorization constitutes second-degree escape, a Class 5 felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
