Crime Alert Bulletin for the week of June 21-27, 2021

When I mention “the unit block” of a street, this means the incident occurred at an address anywhere between 1 and 99 of the street.

Notable Cases

On Monday, 06-21-21 at 8:57 p.m., officers contacted two subjects, a 29-year old female and a 33-year old male both from Moss Beach, on the north side of the parking garage at 1851 Junipero Serra Boulevard. Both subjects were standing in an area with fresh graffiti, both had black ink on their hands, and both were in possession of spray paint bottles. Both subjects gave false names, and the female resisted arrest as officers were taking her into custody. Both subjects were in possession of a controlled substance. The male was released, but charges are pending. The property owner estimated the cost to clean up the graffiti was approximately $2,000.

On Wednesday, 06-23-21 at 7:47 p.m., following a traffic stop by Officer Smith at Geneva Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard, a 21-year old Oakland female and a 19-year old San Francisco male were arrested for having approximately 790 grams of fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, heroin, Alprazolam and Oxycodone pills in their possession. They also had a large amount of packaging materials, manufacturing materials, scales, cellphones, and cash. The female’s young children (1 and 3 years old) were in the backseat without a seatbelt or car seat, and they were in reaching distance of the dangerous and illegal drugs. Child Protective Services took the children into protective custody.

On Sunday 06-27-21 at 12:32 a.m., Officer Greene was on patrol on the 6300 block of Mission Street and saw a subject standing in front of the doorway, facing the metal gate that secures the entryway to the residence. Officer Greene said the male was close enough to the gate that it appeared as if he was pushing his chest and hips against the metal gate. The subject had a large duffle bag resting by his feet. The two mailboxes are affixed to the iron gate but positioned inside the entry way and secure from the general public. There is, however, space at the bottom that is large enough for someone to reach his/her hands into under the gate. Officer Greene walked up to the subject who had a large pile of mail between his legs and on the sidewalk outside the gate.  The officer said “hello” to the subject, and he looked at the officer and immediately pushed all of the mail back under the gate. Officer Greene asked the subject how he was doing, and he said he was fine and that he was just checking his mail. When the officer told the subject that it appeared as if he was stealing the mail, the subject said he wasn’t stealing the mail and he shouldn’t be bothering him. The male gave the officer his name and said he used to live with his aunt at the address but had to move because of the pandemic. The subject said he was waiting for his stimulus check and returned to the mailbox to attempt to collect his check. Officer Greene asked the subject to present him with a piece of mail with his name on it, and the subject produced a piece of mail with a name on it that he claimed was his, and also several pieces of mail with his “aunt’s” name on it. The subject could not provide an approximate age for his aunt, and he lied about his name. Officer Greene subsequently arrested the subject, a 46-year old transient, for burglary, identity theft, giving false identity to a police officer and for an active felony warrant.

On Sunday, 06-27-21 at 3:27 p.m., Officer Ciucci was dispatched to the Serramonte Shopping Center on a report of a just-occurred brandishing in the parking lot. The reporting party said he was involved in a road-rage incident with another vehicle, and during the course of the incident, a subject threw a soda at the reporting party’s vehicle and brandished a knife. The officer found the suspect, a 39-year old Oakland resident, along with his two friends inside the Target store. During a pat down search of all three subjects, the officer found a loaded Glock semi-automatic firearm on the suspect’s friend, a 32-year old San Francisco resident. The first suspect was cited for brandishing, and the second suspect was cited for carrying a loaded firearm in a public place and concealing a firearm.

On Sunday, 06-27-21 at 9:50 p.m., Officer Greene was dispatched to the Walgreen’s store on San Pedro Road on a report of a male stealing items in the store. The subject was gone before the officer arrived, but the store manager provided the officer with a photograph of the suspect. Officer Greene relayed the suspect’s description to other officers patrolling in the area, and Officer Premenko found a possible match at the Colma BART station. Officer Greene arrived at the BART station and confirmed the subject was the same person as in the photograph. The subject, a 24-year old San Francisco resident, still had some of the stolen items in his possession. Officer Greene arrested the suspect for burglary and for an outstanding warrant.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access to a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
