Narrative: | |||
On June 21, the Camarillo Police Department Community Resource Unit conducted a multiple location undercover Tobacco/Vape compliance check in the City of Camarillo based on complaints received by the public. Six locations in the city were tested using decoys under the age of 21, supervised by undercover deputies, to determine whether or not tobacco/vape shops would sell nicotine products to the decoys without checking for identification. All of the locations requested identification and did not sell products to the underage decoys. Tobacco and nicotine vape related addictions are a serious problem with the youth of our community today. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office and the Camarillo Police Department are committed to the health of the youth in our community and will continue to proactively enforce laws prohibiting the sale of these products to people under the age of 21. |
