A fatal traffic collision occurred earlier today at Bear Valley Road and Hesperia Road

INVOLVED PARTY (1): 37 year old male, Barstow Resident
SUMMARY:
On Sunday, July 4, 2021, at approximately 0406 hours, deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Department Hesperia and Victorville Stations received a call reference a single vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Bear Valley Road and Hesperia Road. Deputies arrived and saw a 2004 gray Mazda 6 collided into the traffic signal on the southeast corner of the intersection. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Hesperia Station Major Accident Investigation Team responded and assumed the investigation. Preliminary findings of this investigation suggested the driver traveled west on Bear Valley Road. For unknown reasons, the driver crossed from the westbound lanes to the eastbound lanes of Bear Valley Road. The driver struck a curb, drove on the sidewalk and collided into the traffic signal pole on the south east corner of the intersection.
The collision remains under investigation and any witnesses are asked to contact Deputy S. Lopiccolo or Deputy D. Holland from the Hesperia Station.
