A Flex Alert has been issued by the California Independent System Operator (ISO) for Monday, July 12. With electric transmission lines from Oregon still unreliable due to the explosive Bootleg Fire and continued demand for electricity, this flex alert has been issued to stabilize the state's electric grid and deal with uncertainty created by extraordinary conditions. Consumers are strongly encouraged to continue to conserve as much electricity as possible between 4:00 pm and 9:00 pm.  Consumers can help by setting your thermostat to 78 degrees or higher, if health permits; avoiding the use of major appliances; turning off all unnecessary lights; using fans for cooling; and unplugging unused items.
