National Weather Service LaCrosse --- Severe storms are likely anywhere across the area today, but especially near and south of Interstate 90. A line of strong to severe storms will sweep through the region toward this afternoon with torrential rainfall and a significant threat for damaging winds, perhaps in excess of 70 mph. Additional storms will redevelop behind this exiting line towards evening. While there is lower confidence in the magnitude and coverage of the severe threat this evening (will depend on how the afternoon evolves), all thunderstorm hazards will be possible, including: damaging winds, large hail, a few tornadoes, torrential rainfall, and localized flash flooding where storms repeat over the same areas. Stay weather aware today! Consider rescheduling any outdoor plans this afternoon/evening and have multiple ways to receive warnings!
